The term Eastside or East Side has two different meanings in the city of Long Beach, California. The first, and more current meaning, refers to an area roughly comprising the eastern half of the city, usually excluding areas south of the east-west line made by Pacific Coast Highway/Atherton Street. This area is also called East Long Beach. The second usage refers to the "Eastside" made famous in 1990s hip-hop/gangsta rap. This area is on the ''east side'' of the Los Angeles River, and is roughly centered on the Poly High and Central Area neighborhood, north of Downtown Long Beach. ==East Long Beach== East Long Beach is a large area of Long Beach, roughly comprising the eastern geographic half of the city, but usually excluding areas south of the east-west line made by Pacific Coast Highway/Atherton Street. East Long Beach is generally taken to extend north to the northern city boundary and east to the eastern city boundary. Areas east of the 605 Freeway and the San Gabriel River such as El Dorado Park and Imperial Estates near Orange County form the easternmost boundary. The western boundary is less well-defined, given variously as Lakewood Boulevard, and the Long Beach Municipal Airport to form part of the western boundary. East Long Beach is usually referred to in the media as "East Long Beach," but informally also may be referred to as the "East side."〔 The area generally consists of tracts of detached single-family homes built in the Post-WWII era, and automobile-oriented shopping centers. Most of the major streets through the area are wide boulevards of the type favored in construction of Postwar suburbs, and lined with trees. It is virtually indistinguishable in an architectural sense from neighboring Lakewood. Much of this area was developed as part of the subdivisions that later became the city of Lakewood, but these areas were annexed into Long Beach prior to Lakewood's incorporation as a city. East Long Beach's main north to south thoroughfares are Studebaker Rd, Palo Verde Ave, Woodruff Ave, Bellflower Blvd, Clark Ave, Lakewood Blvd and Los Coyotes Diagonal. Willow Street, Spring Street, Wardlow Rd and Carson Street make up the major east to west streets. East Long Beach is a wide geographic area that includes smaller neighborhoods, including Plaza, Carson Park, South of Conant, and Lakewood Village. Millikan High School, part of the Long Beach Unified School District, is at the Palo Verde Avenue and Spring Street. The neighborhood is predominantly middle-class, of mostly whites, however recent years have seen also an increase in numbers of Asians and Hispanics living in the area. The neighborhood consists of all or portions of the 90815, 90808 and 90803 ZIP codes and is adjacent to the Traffic Circle, the California State University, Long Beach campus, the Los Angeles County cities of Lakewood and Hawaiian Gardens, and the Orange County cities of Cypress and Los Alamitos. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Eastside, Long Beach, California」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
